Alcossebre in the beautiful Costa del Azahar

Why should you buy a property in Alcossebre?

Alcossebre is a typical Spanish town that gives a real taste of Spain. It is surrounded by orange groves and olive and almond trees, with the Sierra de Irta mountain range on one side (designated as a national park), and the Mediterranean sea on the other. It is an area protected by law against the intrusion of mass tourism, and high rise hotels and apartments are not permitted, and therefore Alcossebre has retained its character as a small Spanish town.

It is mainly frequented by the Spanish, with a few English, French, Dutch, Germans, and Italians. It is very different to the usual Spanish “costas”. If you are looking for a 'club' style holiday with Burger bars, English pubs and night clubs, then this is not the place for you. However, if relaxation and friendly locals, combined with the warm Mediterranean climate and beautiful beaches, are more your taste, then you will simply love what Alcossebre has to offer.

With its beautiful climate, superb selection of restaurants and cafes and bars, unhurried way of life, the friendliness of the local people, you will soon understand what attracts so many people to this wonderful and unspoilt area.

All of the 5 main beaches are “blue flag” sandy beaches, next to the safe and unpolluted Mediterranean sea, and there is a 350-berth modern marina for the boating enthusiasts


The area

Alcossebre is the ideal location from which to explore the Costa del Azahar. Along the coast are several towns each with their own individual charm, such as Peniscola with its old town and famous castle overlooking the sea, beautiful 5km sandy beach, and many restaurants; as well as Benicarlo, Vinaros, Torrenostra and Torreblanca, Benicassim, Oropesa del Mar and Castellon; and slightly further afield the beautiful medieval walled city of Morella. Port Aventura is a Universal Studios Theme Park, and is very near to Reus Airport. We suggest that you hire a car as there are many places to see around the area.


Getting to Alcossebre

The nearest airports are presently Reus (Ryanair and other airlines) and Valencia (Easyjet and other airlines). Reus is about 90 minutes drive, and Valencia is about 60 minutes drive from Alcossebre.

However, one of the main attractions of buying a property in this area is the new Castellon Airport which is due to open at the end of 2010. This airport will be approximately 15-20 minutes drive from Alcossebre, and is certain to bring more prosperity to the region, and lead to house prices increasing and a general upturn in the economy.

Car hire is relatively cheap and is available from all local airports. The road links are excellent with the main AP7/E15 motorway running the full length of the coast. Alcossebre lies just a few miles towards the coast from Junction 44 of this motorway.
